Early Career Scholars Receive Awards

The Research Network is pleased to announce its Early Career Scholars award recipients: Meghan McCormick, research associate at MDRC, Samantha Melvin, doctoral student at Teachers College, Columbia University and Natalia Rojas, doctoral candidate at NYU-Steinhardt.

Recipients will receive $5,000 to support their work in applied research to inform early childhood policy and practice and engage in a learning community to develop their skill to pursue research for social impact. The Early Career Scholars are investigating critical issues including the alignment of practice between early childhood and K-3, effective practices for supporting young children who are dual language learners, and identifying effective supports for family child care providers.

With generous support from the Heising-Simons foundation, the Research Network is advancing its goal to build the City's cadres of scholars who are working to enhance early care and education. We are pleased to have Meghan, Natalia, and Samantha in the Research Network.
